ChaseR – Bad Dreams/Decadence

Ignescent was founded in 2015 and since then it’s gone from strength to strength, finding only the most hard-hitting, diligently produced music to expand their widening discography. Next up for the label is a two-track single from ChaseR, an expertly manufactured track which shows why the producer is slowly becoming such a notorious figure. Hailing from Russia, a place well known for exporting some of the best drum & bass artists, his production standard comes as no surprise. ‘Bad Dreams’ and ‘Decadence’ draws you into his world, a place that many listeners are becoming trapped within, unable to tear themselves away from his angrily driving basslines and ingenious sound design.

‘Bad Dreams’ moves out with intimidating force, with twisted female vocals drifting through the mix, amongst clanking cowbell and a sudden explosion of distorted LFO. Slowly but surely the track begins to crank up, with its percussion lying underneath the mix and creating a juxtaposition against its crashing, clunking motion. ‘Bad Dreams’ lumbers forward and begins to grow heavier with every drop. Halfway the track collects itself, once again gearing up for another climatic impact. The record then switches up, becoming more urgent and darkly aggressive. ChaseR makes a statement, demonstrating why he’s been such as such an exciting prospect.

On the flipside is ‘Decadence’, presenting a different dynamic to its predecessor with high-powered keyed notes and creeping sample. ‘Decadence’ is a roller which has a groove that hits you between every break. It opens the other side of ChaseR’s soundscape, with quickly fluctuating bass and clattering drum patterns. A gyrating mix which provides a slightly toned down but still as impactful record, its strung-out relays of instrumentals play out throughout a break held up by a sudden breakthrough of more humanistic elements midway. Bit by bit you’re drawn into its composition. For a newcomer, ChaseR has been proving himself release after release. And this one is no different.

Alongside Ignescent, ChaseR’s name is set to become more established, especially if the musical quality continues to mirror this next single. The coming twelve months are looking to be huge and these two tracks only mark the beginning.
