The Pioneers Hip Hop Show

The Pioneers Hip Hop Show is all about shining a light on the old school….This show is broadcast LIVE the first Tuesday of every month @ 7pm G.M.T.  Whirlwind D has been involved in hip hop since the early 80s. As rapper for the group Solid n Mind, he recorded a number of singles in the early 90s as part of the legendary Liberty Grooves label and still continues to release music to the present day on a variety of labels (Tru-Tone, Naked Ape and B Line). In the past he has written columns in a number of magazines such as Undercover and Ethics and continues to write for Record Collector Magazine. He has also contributed to a number of books on the subject including Freddy Fresh Rap Records. Finally, he is a contributing editor for Diggers With Gratitude.’

Broadcast LIVE across 103.7 FM on 2nd March 2013; this month’s Pioneers Hip Hop Show is all about ‘white labels’. We look at their origins and then focus on those records that only ever came out with a white label – many of which are, despite their brilliance, very hard to find. We feature lots of dope wax from the US and UK, including some brand new exclusives at the end of the show. As usual, we will hold a competition and this month we will be giving away a copy of Mr Fantastic & Phil Most Chill’s new 12″ Superfunk Inc.
