The Polish Ambassador

An extract from The Polish Ambassador (David aka Polish):

(A regular on The Culture and Community Show)

For a few years now, I’ve been doing the standard promo thing. Sending out a track or a new album, hoping you guys dig it, so on and so forth. I’ve got to admit, it’s been pretty impersonal, but dang it…you guys signed up for music, so I’m sure some of you out there are digging keeping tabs on the new tunes coming forth from TPA, Wildlight and other Jumpsuit Records artists. Thanks for tuning in.

Anyhow, I was thinking it might be cool to add a little more personality to these notes, and let you know small titbits about what I’m doing in life beyond music. I imagine it won’t be earth shattering news, but I do it in hopes to foster a bit more connection in a world that can sometimes feel pretty damn disconnected.

I’m in the finishing stages of releasing a new Polish album. In fact, it comes out in a week! I find that no matter how many fans one has, it is always a vulnerable experience to share one’s art. Will they like it? Will they think it sucks? Will I divide the crowd? Should I give it all up and go live in a cave in the mountains? This album is no different. I know I’ve got a bunch of fans from way back when that appreciate the outer space stylings of early TPA music, and I know a lot of people have tuned in more recently, digging the earthy, hip-hop, soul grooves.

That was the main inspiration of this new record. I tried to make a record that was a bridge to both. Yea, you could still hear these jams in a yoga class or a coffee shop, but there’s def. some lasers and outer-space textures woven in that hark back to a previous era of TPA music. I’ve pre-released 4 of the cuts so far.

Beyond music, life is good right now.  I’m focused on connectedness on a local level with my crew out here in Nevada City, CA. Some of you guys know that after 10 years of traveling as an intergalactic salesman slanging beats and beets, I was finally able to purchase a home base in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. I live there with my love Ayla, and my life friends Ryan, Mollie, and Davyd (Ayla’s Brother). It’s a joy to live in close proximity to some of your core peeps, as I’m sure many of you are aware. Lots of family dinners, lots of cool work projects (I’m just finishing building a tiny home with bro Davyd)

We’ve built a couple humbly sized straw bale, earthen floor structures where we prepare meals, play music, and hang.  I’ve got a little dog Tuk Tuk, who is the best dog in the universe 🙂 Two little kitties. We had chickens until a fox picked them off some months back. That sucked. They were hooking up copius amounts of eggs, and I was not craving much meat at all. We’ve plans to build a fox and hawk proof chicken pen soon 😉 But, yea, we’re homesteading out here for sure…

Anyways, I’m about to head home for the night to make and eat enchiladas with the crew. Hope you’re day is rocking, and your night and sleep is peaceful and restful for what awaits you tomorrow 🙂 As always, thanks for allowing me to do what I love to do. I hope today that you did something you love to do. If not, you still got a few hours…

The latest album “Color Of Flight” by The Polish Ambassador has been released world wide! I’d like to tell you all about it… but sometimes talking about music is like dancing about architecture. Sometimes it’s just better to experience it for yourself 😉
