About this Kane FM story
We are so proud to announce our ten-year anniversary since the allocation of our official broadcasting license from Ofcom and what a ten years it has been! Kane FM originated over twelve years ago as a pirate radio station, determined to bring underground music to the ears of Surrey and Hampshire. With the pirate radio status, came the usual ups and downs of operating under those terms but the determination shone through and in 2004 we were granted a 28 day license from Ofcom to show what we could do for our listeners and the community. The rest, as they say is history!
We are very proud to be a “Not for Profit” organisation, run almost entirely by volunteers willing to give their utmost to support this cause. We currently have over sixty specialised DJs playing great underground music across all genres of music from soul, funk, RnB, DnB, jungle, garage, through to all aspects of house music. If you are looking for pop music, then sorry this station is not for you. We actively encourage local artists, producers and DJs and give them a platform to voice their work on the airwaves. Behind the scenes we have received lottery funding and grants (presently from SCC SEND Commissioning and NHS CCG) to help put back into the community and we work tirelessly to promote all that we can, to accommodate those in need, helping them to recognise and reach their full potential, whilst also giving an opportunity to those whose talents would normally be unrecognised.
Our MindWaves programme aims to improve and enhance those that are less able to participate in social and mainstream activities and give them the confidence to proceed in their chosen directions. We are very proud of our activities within the community and continue to work hard to promote them. We run regular events, the profits of which go straight back into the running of the station. We offer great advertising and promotional rates for local businesses, and you can even sponsor your favourite radio show for a minimal cost to reach out to your local community. We have found that sponsorship has been extremely beneficial to local businesses and prices start from just £5 per show! We currently have a range of merchandise through Back Atcha Clothing and we are thrilled to announce a further ten new designs to mark our ten years of radio broadcasting!
