About this Kane FM story
I came from Woking College to work at Kane FM this week (6th February to the 10th February 2017) for work experience. The radio station is on the University of Surrey campus in the student union building. I really liked this because it was like a little community and everyone knew each other. The studio is very small but again I liked it.
The people at Kane FM were very friendly and they taught me a lot about the industry and being a community radio station. I got to be on a live show which was nerve wracking at first but then I got used to it. I also got to make a track with a Launchpad, learn how to mix, and make my own pre - recorded show. I had never experienced any of these activities before and I really enjoyed it.
The week’s activities were nicely spread out over the five days and we had enough time to fully understand the radio station and how it runs. I do a media BTEC level 3 at college but we don’t cover radio in the course so this was very helpful. I will cherish these memories for the rest of my life and I have now considered radio as a future job after coming here.
