Bio
Matt fell in love with Hip-hop in the late 80s and early 90s—drawn in by scratching and breakbeats—and began DJing on borrowed decks while collecting the Hip-hop, House and Hardcore of the era. In 1994 he finally got his own 1210s (still going strong today) and started playing parties and bars around Windsor, Maidenhead and Marlow, including a three-year Friday night residency in Marlow called Café del Marlow.
In 2000 he developed chronic tinnitus after damaging his hearing, making large systems difficult to play on, but with earplugs and unwavering passion he continued performing at smaller venues and outdoor events. Around this time he taught himself to scratch, taking influence from DJ Hype, DJ Yoda, Mr Thing and the early Skint Records sound—shaping the style he still uses today.
During the COVID lockdown he moved into live-streaming, which led to radio—a format he instantly connected with. Sharing music, talking about what it means to him, and meeting like-minded people has become one of his favourite parts of DJing.
Comfortable across genres—Jungle, Hip-hop, Techno, Breakbeat and of course House—he rarely sticks to just one. Hence the show name: “Not Just House.”
