Digital Music, Vocals, Radio and Podcasting for young people!
Established in 2014, The MindWaves Project is part of Kane FM, a not for profit community radio station based in Surrey and Hampshire borders since the 90s. At MindWaves, we provide digital music tuition and broadcasting opportunities for young people. Working inclusively with all young people through excellent tuition, strong partnerships and community engagement. Much of our work focuses on supporting those with wellbeing challenges and/or learning differences. We ensure a safe, inclusive and individual’s learning lead space that enables the young person to build confidence and develop skills for adulthood whilst having fun.
Our aim is to provide meaningful sessions that assist life transitions into education, training, further support or employment. We offer both 1:1 and group options, including but not limited to music production, DJing or music mixing, vocal coaching and recording, radio hosting, mentoring, youth advocacy, news presenting and podcasting.
With guidance from our excellent staff and volunteers, thousands of young people have enjoyed creative development and report benefits to mental health. There is also the option of gaining an Arts Award and even work experience with the radio, the project or our our partners. MindWaves is open to young people aged 14+, with referrals accepted from individuals, schools, and partner organisations.
If you are or know of a young person who would benefit, a potential partner, or just want to donate, we’d love to hear from you via email at jenniann@kanefm.com or ollie@kanefm.com .
