The extraordinary British Chocolate company - Montezuma’s ’unwrapped’ its first shop in Guildford last month. Located on the High Street, in the heart of the city centre, is Britain’s Greatest Little Chocolate Company.

Guildford is the second new Montezuma’s store to open this year, where shoppers will be warmly welcomed by Store Manager Amy Napper, and her friendly team. Amy, an extremely talented artist whose work is also displayed on blackboard signs in all Montezuma’s shops - has already created a wonderful cheery atmosphere to the shop.

The Guildford store opened its doors on the 23rd June, and is now open 9.30am-5.30pm Monday - Saturday, & 10.30am-4.30pm on Sundays.

Montezuma’s was founded by Helen and Simon Pattinson in 2000, following a whistle-stop tour of South America, where their taste and passion for chocolate was first discovered. The trip changed their lives and they returned to the UK with a dream to create extraordinary British chocolate that boasted an innovative range of fun flavour combinations. Montezuma’s pride themselves in their sustainable, organic chocolate. As well as their iconic, eco-friendly packaging.

Montezuma’s chocolate selection is simply something for everyone. From fun super-sized bars to truffles and gift boxes, you’ll be sure to find something for every occasion! They also explore a large range of Vegan options in their ‘Like No Udder’ range. This is a unique creation of chocolate that is as close to milk chocolate as possible, without ever having gone near a cow.

This range is in conjunction with their incredible selection of dark chocolate goodies - such as their  ‘Absolute Black’ range which is made without sugar, milk gluten, and soya - furthermore, with over half their range being suitable for vegans, they’ve got something for everyone! Montezuma’s also offers a 3, 6, and 9 month mixed subscription box, sent in a nifty carton that fits right through your letterbox, so no need to wait in! Inside, is a 600g assortment of unique, mouth-watering flavours of delectable chocolate bars, truffles, and buttons.

Montezuma’s has also been supporting Children on the Edge, a locally based charity in West Sussex, for over 10 years and has donated over £100,000 through various fundraising activities. The generous donations their customers, and their team, have helped to support over £15,000 of the world’s most vulnerable children in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, who are living on the edge of their societies; children without parental care, neglected or persecuted by their governments, ignored by international media, and often missed by larger charities.

Having always traded fairly, the brand is known for using the best quality, ethically sourced cocoa that meets its strict ‘Business Done Properly’ policy. Montezuma’s work with several suppliers to source the best-tasting chocolate, but everything bought must also meet strict ethical criteria and certifications which include Rainforest Alliance, UTZ, Soil Association and Cocoa Horizons. Montezuma’s understand that while profit is important, their business should also be a fun and rewarding place to work. They have worked overtime to minimise their impact on the environment, and have made it clear that by paying a fair price to their suppliers - they will never compromise on the quality and flavour, as they only buy the best quality cocoa beans.
