About this Kane FM story
Kane FM are delighted to announce the new partnership with Catalyst, who are the sponsor of Kaya M, a monthly radio DJ on the station. Catalyst is a Surrey-wide not-for-profit organisation, which provides drug & alcohol and mental health & well-being support for adults and young people in the local community.
The service has been operating for over 30 years (formerly known as SADAS) and is the main non-medical treatment provider for drug & alcohol care in the community. Catalyst is an independent charity funded by the National Health Service, which works in partnership with Surrey and Borders, local GPs, hospitals, the justice system and many health and social care providers to integrate this unique provision.
Among the services Catalyst provides for mental health and well-being is support for patients transitioning from the ward to the home, as well as offering safe havens for young people and adults, which includes virtual support for people to easily engage with. People who have lived experience can actively work with Catalyst, as part of a peer support model, to help others. Services such as the SUN network and community based peer support groups target persons with complex emotions often associated with personality disorders, but any person can be a member of the network as diagnosis is not a requirement. Community support also includes a charity book & vinyl shop in Godalming, group activities such as football, music, crafts and film, as well as one-to-one support.
Help is available for all persons experiencing difficulties with drug & alcohol use. Adults who regularly present at emergency services and are alcohol dependent can access the Catalyst High Impact (CHI) project. Rough sleepers with substance misuse issues can also access one-to-one treatment for free. Reach Out Counselling is free and available to all adults and family, friends and carers. Catalyst runs projects helping people to manage hoarding behaviour, engage with trauma-informed housing support and also provide early intervention for persons of all ages in the criminal justice system. Additionally, Outline is a service supporting the LGBTQ+ community through their telephone helpline, text and their web-based service.
