About this Kane FM story
Porangui is an uprising artist from Arizona who conducts his own symphonia of culture.
His music smoothly intertwines traditions and values from his upbringing in Mexico, Brazil and the U.S, which absorbs the listener within the layers of culture.
The depth of expertise and energy present in his tracks can be attributed to his cross-cultural background and study of ethnomusicology at Duke University, Carolina.
As a world-soul musician, he has travelled the world and played for every corner of it, with upcoming tour dates from Portugal to Australia. During his live performances he entrances the crowd with his loop pedal and traditional instruments as he blends the sounds of the world together to create different melodies.
He aims to use the ancient knowledge and techniques of indigenous healing practices he learnt from childhood experiences to create music for self-healing and meditation. His latest release includes breathing and visualisation techniques to aid the listener in controlling their emotions and perspectives.
Recording under the label Desert Trax, his most recent album titled ‘Porangui’ includes South American inspired slow house beats and ethnic textures.
Many of his most famous tracks are remixes with other artists of similar genre. Some of the most popular remixes include Chakaruna- Drumspyder Remix and Ancestors-Shamans Dream remix. Both include familiar sounds of tribal and world instruments.
You can find his music on Soundcloud, Bandcamp and Spotify where he has over 85,000 monthly listeners.
His most popular tracks include ‘Iluminar’, ‘Arcoiris’ and ‘Sueños de la Selva’ which showcase his tribal inspirations and calming sound textures, most of which include sounds from nature like crickets chirping or water flowing.
Porangui’s music is perfect to listen to for any mood or occasion, whether it be for mind clarity, stress relief, or rhythmic dancing. His music feeds the fire within and opens a doorway into our own consciousness.
You can regularly hear his music played on the Culture and Community Show on a Monday between 1and 3pm
