Who we are

Kane FM is an independent not-for-profit community radio station based in Guildford. In this policy, “Kane FM”, “we” and “us” refer to the organisation responsible for this website and the personal information described below.

Information we may collect

• Information you send through a contact or complaints form, including your name, email address, phone number and message.
• Information supplied when enquiring about volunteering, MindWaves, sponsorship, advertising, events or music submissions.
• Technical information such as browser type, device type, approximate location and website usage, where analytics or security services are enabled.
• Donation or purchase information processed by an external payment provider. Kane FM does not receive or store your complete payment-card details.

How we use information

We use personal information to respond to enquiries, manage complaints, administer projects and volunteering, deliver requested services, protect the website, meet legal obligations and understand how the site is used. We only use information for marketing where we have a lawful basis to do so.

Sharing and processors

We do not sell personal information. We may share limited information with trusted service providers that host the website, process payments, deliver forms or provide analytics. We may also disclose information where required by law or needed to protect people and the organisation.

Retention and security

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including any legal, accounting or safeguarding requirements. We use reasonable organisational and technical measures to protect it.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may ask to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, object to its use, or request a portable copy. You may also withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing.

Kane FM mobile apps

The Kane FM mobile apps provide live radio streaming, presenter profiles, schedule information and a studio-messaging feature. Kane FM does not currently collect or store personal information directly within the apps.

The apps connect to third-party and Kane FM services that may process technical information needed to provide their features:

• Mixcloud: live video or audio content.
• FlexText: studio messaging through an embedded web service.
• Kane FM WordPress API: presenter, schedule and website content.
• Kane FM streaming servers: delivery of the live audio stream.

These services may process device information, IP address and usage data. Embedded Mixcloud or FlexText content may use cookies even though the app itself does not set cookies. Their own privacy policies govern the information they process.

The apps are not directed at children under 13 and Kane FM does not knowingly collect personal information from children through them. No internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the services we operate.
