I have really enjoyed being here learning about music and getting to ask questions to a professional about how music is best made. I came in having known a bit about it but have been able to expand my knowledge with things such as EQ, side chain compression and making things sound more natural/human. My favourite part has been being able to come in and have fun creating new tracks but most of all being able to have an idea for something cool and Gid helping me to turn it into a track. We work in a DAW called Ableton and this is great because I use this at home which means everything I learn is easy to apply to things I work on for fun. We have made multiple beats with different ideas behind them. Some have been dark and more Hip Hop based while others more upbeat and funky.
A good part of all this is that it has given me something to do that not only I look forward to but makes me feel as though I’ve completed something which in overall helps me feel better about myself and how my life is going. It has definitely helped my confidence of getting out of the house and interacting with people while also the feeling of accomplishment has helped my self-worth and feelings of depression.
