Fancy a spot of jazz?
The Challengers Wood Street Jazz Festival is returning for its third year, with more top-class musicians and promises to be a fun-filled family day.
On Sunday 16th July, the Wood Street Village Green will be transformed into a music haven with the country’s leading jazz musicians travelling from all over, to entertain you. There will be food and refreshments available throughout the afternoon, including a bar from the Hogsback Brewery.
Warming up the show will be the Somethin’ Else Big Band who are making a return this year and promise to deliver an up-tempo and fun introduction. Next up is critically acclaimed jazz singer, Jacqui Hicks, former member of Shakatak. Headlining this year’s event will be a quintet, playing a tribute to the blue note. Making up this quintet will be multi-award winning saxophonist Tony Kofi and world class trumpet player, Bryon Wallen who will be joined by other musicians as well.
All proceeds will be going directly to Challengers who are a charity providing play and leisure schemes for disabled children and young people in Surrey & the South East. This event is a must for any jazz or music fan and promises to be lots of fun for the family as well.

The Wood Street Jazz Festival is being organised in conjunction with Guildford Jazz (www.guildfordjazz.wordpress.com ) who organise a number of fantastic jazz events throughout the year. Also involved in the organisation is the Wood Street Village Horticultural Society who will be hosting their annual village show on Saturday 15 th July.
