We’re delighted to announce that Elijah Minnelli returns to Kane FM this week to drop an exclusive guest mix on the World Beats show.
Elijah first guested on Kane FM with Floored Capri and Da Vinci Sound back in 2013 under a different guise. He’s since gone on to tour with DJ Yoda as Rex Domino and he’s had support from Gilles Peterson and Brownswood’s Future Bubbler’s programme for his spectacularly obscure Damo’s Room project.
A man of many aliases, his unique angle – championing vintage calypso/mento/cumbia/beguine alongside left-field dub and reggae cuts – has cemented him a cult fanbase in the UK and worldwide. He has also made quite a splash in the world of broadcasting himself over the years, with guests & contributors which have included Dennis Bovell, Shumba Youth (Unit 137), Interrupt (Reggae Roast), Shere Khan (Channel One), Natty Bo, Brazilian dancehall queen Lei Di Dai and many more.
Elijah’s eclectic feel-good selections have proved a hit with a diverse range of audiences, and seen him perform with Sunday Best at SXSW in Austin, Texas, at the GREAT Festival of Innovation in Hong Kong, and in support of Specials co-founder Jerry Dammers.
Hot on the heels of his latest release via Breadminster County Council – the fourth in a run of limited edition 7″s – we’re super excited to have Elijah Minnelli back in to spin some of his favourite records this week, complete with an array of dub sirens and delivered in Elijah’s inimitable style.
